Getting to Duchray Castle
By car
Our postcode is FK8 3XL.
The village of Aberfoyle can be reached by road along the A81 from the south (Glasgow) or the A873 from the east (Stirling). Once in Aberfoyle travel to the far end of the main street, where you will see Coop on your left. Drive straight on and turn left driving around the end of the Coop car park turning left and over the old stone bridge. On your right you will see a modern housing estate accessed via Old Kirk Loan. Take the road on the right immediately after Old Kirk Loan, at the start of which there is a large oak tree on the right and a post box on the left. This is a forest track, you need to follow it for 2.5 miles without turning off. After about 3/4 of a mile you will see a forestry commission sign that reads "no unauthorized access". As a guest of Duchray Castle you have permission to continue straight on up this track. After approximately another 1.5 miles you will come across Drumore Cottage on your right. Please be respectful of our neighbours and slow right down as you go past their house and stables. Carry on for a few hundred meters past Drumore Cottage and you will see the main gate to Duchray Castle.
Please be aware that the access track is a forestry commission logging track, its is easily negotiable with a normal road car, but please drive slowly and with care. Although not recommended, it is possible to bring vintage or sports cars very carefully along this track.
Please be respectful of walkers, cyclists and horse riders also using this track, most of whom will not be expecting any motorized vehicles to be on the track.
